Inspired by similar domes around the world, it was intentionally crated for stillness, resonance, and shared inner experience. In recent years, the dome grew quiet with limited use and accumulating needed repairs. In January 2026, the dome transitioned into new ownership with intentions to begin thoughtful renovations and reimagine the space for new life and purpose. What began as a desire to create meaningful nature-based mentoring for children has expanded into a broader vision of community wellness. The Dome will have something for everyone. Programming includes yoga, summer camps, after school classes, workshops and community gatherings.
STORY OF THE LAND
Restoring an Old Soul for New Magic
In the 1980s, the Transcendental Meditation Community of Austin acquired Hill Country land near Driftwood with a vision of creating an ideal village. The first structure built was the Golden Dome, a 4,000 square foot circular space in southwest Austin designed for group meditation and collective coherence.
Stillness + Resonance
There’s a natural quiet inside the dome that changes how people feel. The rounded structure softens distractions and invites presence, reflection, meditation, breathwork, and deep rest. It becomes less about “escaping” and more about returning to yourself.
A Sense of Wonder
Most people have never stepped inside a true meditation dome from the 1980s. The architecture itself creates curiosity and awe—earthy yet futuristic, grounding yet dreamlike. Surrounded by Hill Country landscape, the experience feels transportive, memorable, and unlike anywhere else people have been.
Sacred Acoustics
The curved architecture of the dome creates an immersive listening experience unlike a traditional venue. Live music feels enveloping, intimate, and deeply resonant—every note lingering in the space like a living thing. Perfect for acoustic sets, sound baths, candlelit concerts, and spoken word.
